Why Apply to Western Kentucky University?

All students have their own reasons for joining our community. From award-winning academic programs to exciting sporting events to our abundance of extracurricular activities, Western Kentucky University has an opportunity for everyone. 

We are proud to offer more than 170 undergraduate academic options for 菠菜大平台导航 students including majors, minors, and pre-professional tracks. Our Journalism and Broadcasting, Education, Engineering, and Business programs are all nationally ranked. In addition to their major, students complete the Colonnade Program. This innovative general education sequence promotes critical, creative, and global thinking to support students’ personal and career development.  

Our application is completely online and easy to fill out. We will also need your transcripts, test scores, and a $50 application fee. Essays and letters of recommendation are not required to apply to 菠菜大平台导航.

Freshman Application Process

Below is an overview of important steps in the Western Kentucky University application process. View the Admissions Timeline and 菠菜大平台导航’s Financial Aid page for detailed information.

Before your senior year: 

• Make sure your high school coursework is aligned with our admissions requirements. If you are an in-state applicant, this would be the KY minimum high school graduation requirements.  菠菜大平台导航 recommends that all applicants complete the most challenging curriculum available to them necessary for academic success.  Two credits of a single world language is highly recommended although admission to 菠菜大平台导航 may still be granted without the completion of two credits of a single world language.

August-October of your senior year: 

• Take a campus tour and meet with college representatives. 
• Prepare to complete the FAFSA application as well as scholarship applications.
• Apply to 菠菜大平台导航! Our online application takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete and has a $50 application fee.

November 

• Strive to finish your 菠菜大平台导航 application by November 15th, especially if you are interested in the Mahurin Honors College or the Cherry Presidential Scholarship.  

December

• Don’t’ forget the December 31^st priority deadline to apply for academic scholarships.
